Collegiate School

Our Facilities

Our impressive facilities and picturesque 30-acre grounds make Collegiate a fantastic place in which to learn, grow and make life-long friends. We continue to invest and develop our facilities, which are unique within Bristol.

Our superbly-equipped Science laboratories are brought to life with a variety of experiments, explosions and dissections and host our partnerships with universities and local industry.

Pupils learn to express themselves using every type of media in our spacious, purpose-built art studios, IT suite and darkroom.

In the Sixth Form, pupils are provided with individual iPads to support their studies and research. Pupils also have access to IT facilities and other online resources at home.

The prominence of our library in Bishop’s Palace is matched by its importance as a centre for learning within the school. Our professional librarians help pupils access and enjoy more than 21,000 books and journals, plus other online resources.

Collegiate has an impressive sporting legacy, perhaps unsurprising given our impressive on-site sports facilities that are unique in Bristol. Inside our 30 acres of grounds we have: 6 rugby pitches, 2 cricket squares, a floodlit all-weather hockey Astroturf pitch, 6 floodlit tennis courts and 4 floodlit netball courts, a fully-equipped fitness suite, 4 squash courts, table tennis facilities and a superb sports hall with 4 badminton courts, a basketball court and indoor cricket nets.

Inside our exceptionally well-equipped 200-seat theatre, our pupils perform in productions that are nationally recognised as examples of excellence.

The music classrooms, practice rooms and Chatterton Hall are a vibrant hub for individual performances and ensembles.

In our DT workshop and graphics lab, pupils learn how to become designers of the future.

Learning is brought to life in the Hilborne Garden. Here pupils grow their own crops, study wildlife and enjoy lessons from subjects as diverse as music, science and geography. The walled garden has wireless internet access, allowing pupils to use iPads to link the modern and natural worlds.
