Year 13 Embark On Their OC Journey
We were delighted to welcome a number of visitors to Collegiate this morning to introduce our current Year 13 cohort to their very own alumni network – the OC Society.
As soon as a pupil leaves Collegiate, they are officially OCs – and Vishal Balasingham, the OC Society President – explained the process to them, starting with the fact they can call him ‘Bally’ from now on.
Once a pupil joins the OC network, they can play for the OC sports teams, attend annual dinners and social events, as well as being able to reach out to fellow OCs for support in a host of areas, including job opportunities or mentoring initiatives.
Joining Bally, who attended the school between 1985-1992, was the OCRFC President Matt Leek, governor Martin Tayler and our newly-appointed Alumni Relations Manager (and former Head Girl in 2002-03!) Dana McKee – all of them honorary OCs in their own right. Martin and Dana also taught at the school for a number of years.
There are exciting plans for the OC Society moving forward, such as the launch of girls’ sporting teams and an OC band, so these Year 13s could well prove to be pioneers in these fields.
