Year 13 Celebrate Superb Results

Students, staff and parents at Collegiate are celebrating following an excellent set of A Level, BTEC and CTEC examination results.

The vast majority of Collegiate Year 13s have secured the grades they need to access their next educational or professional step, having secured the necessary examination results to access their chosen university courses or degree-level apprenticeships.

These wonderful young people are so much more than just a set of grades on an exam certificate, but the headline figures still make for very encouraging reading:

• 40% of A Level grades were awarded at A/A*
• 70% of A Level grades were awarded at A*/B
• 88% of CTEC and BTEC grades were awarded at Starred Distinction / Distinction (the equivalent of A*/A at A Level)
• 20 students (29% of the cohort) achieved the equivalent of AAA or better
• 87% of applicants secured their first or second choice university course or apprenticeship

Collegiate Head, Mr Jeremy McCullough, said: “We are always delighted when our collective raw results are very good but, as ever, it is the individual success stories that really demonstrate the value of the education a school has provided and it was fantastic to see so many smiling faces collecting their results this morning.

"Our lovely, grounded students have worked very hard, and have been brilliantly supported by their teachers and their parents. They have earned fantastic results that will see the vast majority of them move on to their first or second choice university or apprenticeship but they have achieved so much more than this in their time at Collegiate.”

Mr McCullough continued: “This cohort have contributed so much to the life of the school, in so many different ways, that we have to remind ourselves that there is more to their school careers than these results, no matter how good they are. Indeed, we firmly believe that the co-curricular engagement of our young people is key to the success they have in their examinations. In addition to valuable personal qualities and life skills, that will stand them in good stead for the future. I am confident that they will also go on to be valuable and valued members of their communities.”
